In 1653, the scientist and priest Bernabé Cobo writes in the book "Histories of the New World" descriptions of the thin-skinned avocado with large fruit. This type of avocado is what we know today as the West Indian. The other well-known types are the large round avocado from Guatemala and the small, think, and smooth skin fruit from Mexico. But that's not all! There are over 900 varieties, some of them shown below:
